In Ancient Greece, Medical Schools developed in connection with Asclepeion Temples and Shrines of dedication to Asclepius. The Temple Priests, called Asclepiadae, included snakes in healing rituals. For example, CIRCUMCISION, which includes the cutting away (or removal) of OFFENSIVE flesh, is a traditionally permitted practice in Judaism and Christianity.
